ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR

The Environmental Advisor’s fundamental responsibilities will be to provide support to the Environment and Operations teams with the preparation of regulatory approval applications, including environmental assessments and permitting applications, conduct technical reviews, support the preparation of regulatory license application(s) or licensing amendments, prepare for the review of and/or implement the review of site operations in terms of environmental compliance, identification of opportunities for improvement, and management or implementation of follow-up actions, and prepare, analyze, and interpret environmental compliance reports for regulatory agencies, and internal performance reports; establish, maintain, and utilize environmental data and reporting systems, among other duties.

  • Qualifications: University or College degree in science, engineering, or environmental studies OR other relevant degree / post-secondary education.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working on Environmental Assessments, in particular experience with the federal approval process is preferred. Experience in environmental program management and permitting in power generation. Nuclear generation would be considered an asset.

NUCLEAR OPERATOR (OPERATIONS EXPERT) 

The Nuclear Operator (Operations Expert) will be providing technical input and operational experience to support the development of nuclear management systems, operator certification training, engineering design, construction, commissioning and operation of a Gen IV Micro modular Reactor (MMR). Job duties may include creating business and operational and maintenance models, governance, and procedures for a first-of-a-kind Gen IV MMR demonstration facility, develop and deliver training governance, courses and simulator demonstrations on all subjects associated with Reactor Operator certification, develop and maintain schedules and maintain records to ensure that certified operations staff trainees receive all of the initial and continuing training they need in accordance with approved schedules and requirements, support data-centric operations IT architecture design, development, implementation, training and operation hardware and software platforms, interface with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, vendors, technical and industry SMEs, and attend design, construct, and commission meetings to provide operational experience (OPEX) and human factors engineering (HFE) input, etc.

At least one of the following education requirements:

  • Secondary School Diploma that includes Grade 12-U (university) preparation courses in mathematics and in physics and/or chemistry;
  • Secondary School Diploma plus a College Power Engineering Diploma (1, 2 or 3 year program)
  • Secondary School Diploma plus a four year University Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Secondary School Diploma plus a two or three year College Technician/Technologist Diploma in a program below (or the equivalent): Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power LineStationary Engineering.
  • Industry Experience: Must be previously licensed as an Authorized Nuclear Operator (ANO), Control Room Shift Supervisor (CRSS) or Shift Manager (SM) in Canada or international equivalent. Supervisory / management experience in nuclear operations / Authorized Nuclear Operator training and outage operations is an asset. Requires good knowledge of nuclear station policies and principles, hazards and constraints, operation procedures and radiation protection procedures. A period of over 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

ENGINEERING CO-OP STUDENT 

The Student must work safely under the supervision of an experienced GFP employee. The student is in an experiential position and shall carry out activities to develop that experience. Supervised activities must be performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs, procedures, and instructions that reflect the expectations of the Manager Design Engineering and all applicable rules, regulations, codes, standards and requirements of the station operating licenses, including the license condition handbooks. Any Object prepared by a student shall be co-signed by a qualified GFP Employee. Education: Requires a secondary education and enrolment and successful completion of at least two year post-secondary education at college or university as determined by the hiring manager.

  • Experience: Requires rudimentary experience in facility, equipment and systems operations. Requires demonstrated experience in oral and written skills. Including demonstration of ability to pursue problem-solving processes in a team environment. A period of less than 1 year demonstrated employment is considered necessary to gain this experience
