The Algonquins of Ontario (AOO) have exciting employment prospects for our community members to join us in a professional capacity and become involved in the continued growth, long-term management and success of the Algonquin Nation and our communities.
The following position will have the unique and groundbreaking opportunity to support the Algonquin Negotiation Representative (ANRs) in their ongoing efforts to rebuild and revitalize the Algonquin Nation through the negotiation towards and implementation of a modern-day Treaty, while also working to enhance the Algonquin presence across the unceded AOO Settlement Area.
The Senior Policy Strategist coordinates the official gathering of the ANRs and provides them with technical expertise as well. In addition, the role offers the opportunity to work alongside and support the leadership group of the AOO, as well as other guests, consultants, and the public depending on the support required of the AOO. The Project Consultation Advisor will be responsible for coordinating the receipt, analysis, and response to a variety of consultation requests from the governments and private sector interests for various projects and initiatives throughout the Algonquin Traditional Territory. The Project Consultation Advisor will provide a wide range of strategic, operational, and capacity-building services to support the meaningful engagement and consultation of the AOO. The Land and Resources Management Advisor coordinates and provides technical expertise in the review and timely response to consultation requests in land matters related to proposed government land dispositions, environmental assessment reviews, resource management matters, official plan reviews, and major infrastructure initiatives. This position will conduct complex analyses for the acquisition and management of the proposed land selections of the Algonquins of Ontario in support of the continued negotiations toward a Final Agreement that will define the ongoing rights of the Algonquins of Ontario.
